In a move toward improving website security, WordPress – one of the world’s largest content management systems (CMS) – has recently announced that it will require secure socket layer encryption (SSL) for websites using the platform beginning in 2017. SSL encrypts traffic between a user’s browser and the server hosting the website to prevent “snooping” and data theft from third parties.
